Designs I like Part 5
These pots were found on the buffet table at Mount Lavinia Hotel – Very practical design but elegant as well.

The lids were really heavy so I can just imagine about the pots…won’t be taking anything like this home!

Continuing on with the “Designs I like” series, Mark and I came across these built-in shelves in the Inside-Out Cafe out by the Parliament. The cafe was quaint with a nice court yard and gift shop. The food was delicious but seemed a little high priced for our liking.

Mark figures it wouldn’t be much to create shelves like this in the wall, at the same depth as a stud… I guess I better start planning what we will put on them!
The Cinnamon Grand Hotel (down from the Galle Face and beside Crescat Mall) had a lip-smaking chocolate display for a few days around Valentines Day…

At first I thought the sculptures were pure chocolate but upon closer inspection, I discovered they had ingeniusly painted chocolate over styrofoam pieces…nice!
This is an outdoor table from Lavinia Cafe.

Connected to Mount Lavinia Hotel, it’s a great cafe that has internet access through a WOW connection and is only a two block walk from Majestic City Mall on Duplication Road. Both the food and service is very good… try the cinnamon-chocolate Gelato, if you have chance.
Here is the table in action (yes, that’s water splurting out of the middle of the table!):
It’s also the only place I’ve found so far that sells bagels – although, the servers look at you a little strange when you ask for a toasted bagel with cream cheese… They don’t have plain cream cheese just the mixed one they use for their bagel and salmon sandwich but that’s a great alternative….mmmmmmm
Here is another “design I like” from this cafe…
